Watercolor Painting

The Monarch

Le Fae Negra Series #1

watercolor on 140lb. cold-press paper

This painting is the first in a series. It was inspired by a comment about one of my other paintings: “You never see any black fairies. They’re always white chicks.”

All paintings are shipped unframed unless otherwise stated.

Original Oil Painting

12″x9″ panel

This painting was completed using a subtractive technique referred to as a “lift out.” It is done by applying a thin layer of paint, called a wash, and then using a brush to remove or “lift out” the highlighted areas of the image.

Acrylic Painting

Acrylic on canvas panel

This was among my first acrylic paintings. After winning a third-place prize at an art show, it went relatively unnoticed hanging amidst the other paintings in my studio gallery. Then Pixar’s “Finding Nemo” debuted in theatres. It got a lot of attention after that. I guess it was just a little ahead of its time.
