This painting began as an exercise in oil portraiture. Prior to its completion I was hired to face paint at a company party. However because this particular party happened to be in October, I had lots of requests for blood, scars, and stitches and all manner of gore. This was a striking contrast from the usual requests for flowers, animals and cartoon characters. I had so much fun painting blood that it carried over into my other work.
